Britain is home to many wonderful things. Over the years we have made a name for ourselves across the globe and although we’re not renowned for one specific thing, we’ve done a lot of great things. British cars have played an important role in the early days of vehicles. We are responsible for some of the most memorable and world famous vehicles to ever exist.

Although it’s very difficult to pick just six UK-produced vehicles that we think are the best, we’ve decided to give it a shot. Today we will take a look at some iconic vehicles that shaped the way we travel toady.

We’ve looked all over the internet to see what people were saying and to be fair; we took that into consideration when choosing the vehicles to feature on our list. Let’s get started.

6. Aston Martin DB5

Aston Martin is world-renowned for its luxury vehicles so it’s probably no surprise that this British manufacturer is on our list. Although the brand has produced a lot of great cars over the years, it’s one of its earlier models that truly stood out.

The Aston Martin DB was first introduced in 1963. Although it remained in production until 1965, only 1,023 were ever produced. What makes the vehicle truly spectacular however is the fact that it appeared in the 1964 film, Goldfinger. Although it wasn’t the first Aston Martin to appear in a James Bond film, it was probably the most popular one.

The appearance in the film together with the vehicle’s great styling and performance have helped in elevating the vehicle to another level.

The DB5 is now considered a British icon, which surely is all that needs to be said to justify the car’s appearance on our list.

5. Lotus Elise

There are many different vehicles that deserve a mention on our list, however if we were to list them all, we’d be here for weeks. We knew that Lotus had to make an appearance however we couldn’t decide, which Lotus we wanted to include. After some consideration and hours of going back and forth between cars, we’ve decided that Lotus Elise deserved the spot the most.

No other brand quite does it like Lotus Cars when it comes to sports cars and the Lotus Elise is a great example of that. It’s simply a solid sports car that looks fantastic and handles great. It’s sporty and luxurious, which is all that you can ask for from a sports car.

There’s no denying that Lotus Elise is a fantastic example of manufacturing done right. It definitely deserves a spot on our list.

4. Rolls-Royce Phantom

The level of luxury that Rolls-Royce offers to its customers alone is enough to land it a spot on our list, however there’s so much more to the Phantom than luxury.

Having been around since the mid-1920’s the Phantom has become a British icon. It’s one of the most luxurious vehicles on the planet, which is why it’s driven by the super-rich.

Roll-Royce Phantom is so legendary that we don’t think we need to explain why it’s included on our list.

3. TVR Griffith

Perhaps not as popular as the likes of Rolls-Royce and Aston Martin, TVR has been around for a very long time, producing a lot of fantastic vehicles along the way.

TVR Griffith is the brands most memorable car having gone into production in 1991 and remaining that way for 11 years until it was finally discontinued.

What made the Griffith a great vehicle was the fact that it was a high-power and well-balanced car. Many praised it for its great handling and it also looked fantastic.

The TVR Griffith is another great example of a British sports car done right, which is why we’ve decided to feature it on our list.

2. Morris Minor

Unfortunately Morris is a brand that is no longer with us having stopped producing vehicles in the early 1980’s. During its short run the manufacturer has produced a number of fantastic car cars, namely the Morris Minor, first introduced in 1948.

More than 1.3 million of these beauties were manufactured altogether, which really is impressive.

Perhaps not the most luxurious vehicle, the Minor was practical and extremely fun to drive.

It proved very popular with the public and became an instant classic.

We just love the Morris Minor so much that we had to include it on the list. It rightfully earned its number two spot and to this day it remains a favourite among enthusiast all over the globe.

1. Mini

It’s probably no surprise that we’ve decided to give the number one spot to the original mini. The vehicle is a British icon that remained a favourite among the people for a very long time.

Launched in 1959, the vehicle is probably one of the most influential vehicles ever produced in the UK.

We simply couldn’t give the number one spot to any other vehicle. The Mini proves that a vehicle doesn’t have to be fancy or extremely fast to satisfy its driver. It’s a fantastic example of a vehicle that’s a little less extravagant making it big.

The Mini will forever remain a British icon.
